Details

In the north of Qazvin Province, at the heart of the mountains below the Caspian Sea, is a valley wrapped into the mystic tales of the Assassins, one of the most fascinating sects of the middle Ages. This powerful band of mercenaries was famous for teaching its disciples the art of spying and assassination. It has inspired many movies and books, as well as the popular video game "Assassins Creed".

Enter the Mystic Castle of the Assassins

It's time to climb a bit to find the castle of Hasan Sabbah, the leader of the Assassins, a fortress deemed to be impregnable. Built at 2100 meters high on top of a big rock, Gazorkhan Castle once was the Assassins’ headquarters. Nowadays, its remains not only give insights into the history of this group but also offer a breathtaking view over the valley, like few other places in Iran.
